WHAT
IS HOMEOPATHY?
Established over 200 years ago, homoeopathy is a complete system of medicine
that works by stimulating the body to heal itself, treating the whole person,
not just the disease.
This is done by assessing all the mental, emotional and physical aspects of that
person.
WHAT CAN HOMOEOPATHY TREAT?
Homoeopathy's gentle and non invasive nature means that it is safe and effective,
suitable for everyone.
All kinds of complaints can be treated, for example, earache, asthma, eczema,
colic and sleep
problems in children, hay fever, digestive disorders, menstrual & menopausal
problems, M.E., trauma, grief, anxiety, panic attacks and depression, amongst
many others.
WHAT HAPPENS AT A CONSULTATION?
A consultation will involve a detailed assessment of your past and present health,
the health of your family, and what makes you the person you are, so that a complete
picture is formed which determines the choice of an appropriate remedy.
WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?
The remedy is usually in the form of a tablet which will dissolve in the mouth,
or can be in liquid form.
You will be given simple written instructions on how to take the remedy. The
remedies cannot
cause side effects and you do not become addicted to them.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN ONCE THE TREATMENT STARTS?
You may notice some changes. These could be feelings of well-being, or, sometimes,
your symptoms
may appear to get worse for a short time.
However, this is a good sign that the remedy is taking effect and the healing
process has started. A follow-up consultation will be arranged approximately
a month after the initial consultation
However, any questions or problems you may have prior to the next consultation
can be dealt
with by telephone if appropriate.
It is impossible to say how long the treatment will take as each person is different
and it will depend on the type of illness you have. This will be discussed at
the consultation.
FIRST AID
Homoeopathic remedies can be used safely and effectively in the home for simple
first-aid
situations such as cuts, stings, bruises, minor burns and stomach upsets.
Advice can be given on how to use the appropriate remedies and a homoeopathic
first-aid kit can be supplied. This is particularly useful if you have children.
YOUR G.P.
The relationship with your G.P. should be maintained. Although homoeopathy is
an alternative system of medicine, your G.P. is the primary care provider, and
is there for
instances when you may require conventional treatment and tests.
