Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork based on the theoretical framework of traditional Chinese medicine. Shiatsu originated in Japan from traditional Chinese medicine, with influences from more recent Western therapies. Although shiatsu means ‘finger pressure’ in Japanese, in practice a practitioner uses touch, comfortable pressure and manipulative techniques to adjust the body’s physical structure and balance its energy flow. It is a deeply relaxing experience and regular treatments can alleviate stress and illness and maintain health and well-being.

The whole body is worked with specific areas concentrated on dependent on your symptoms.

General Remedial, Sports and Injury Massage

Although modern medicine has developed ways of treating more serious conditions, minor injury remains by far the most common musculoskeletal problem. This may have an effect on a person's job, sport or quality of life.

At some point in our lives everyone suffers from minor injuries, pain or discomfort which can be helped by massage. Perhaps even more importantly is the use of massage for the prevention of an injury, either by stopping an injury getting worse, or preventing an injury in the first place.

Here are just some of the areas that massage can help to treat:

  • Sciatica
  • Tennis and Golfer's elbow
